SUMMER CELEBRATIONS IN MEXICO.

Summer is here and, in Mexico, the graduations bring unforgettable moments everywhere. These days you can see gowns and elegant suits in kinder gardens, elementary schools, junior high schools, high schools and in universities. Parents, students and godparents walk along the halls and corridors of the schools, while satisfaction invades the ambiance and their happiness promotes group bonding.I don’t know if this activity is also practiced in other countries but I guess it is not. I say this because a coworker, from The United States, was telling me that in his country they just celebrate the end of high school and that one of the university.  Here, in Mexico, there is always a moment to celebrate and to be happy: it is a manner to stop the time and to record beautiful moments.

Meanwhile in the streets, people are seen with presents or flowers in their hands and it is impossible to avoid remembering that group of the Scientists, of the 20th century, who proposed a scientific direction for the government and country, and who thought that positivism was the only right manner to reaffirm knowledge by following Comte´s proposal.

Here, if the child finishes kinder garden, he is congratulated by his family and at school, he dances a prom and receives presents from his people.  After that, there is usually a meal at home which includes chicken stew, white or red rice, salad, and tortillas.  If the family has more money to spend, they all go together to a restaurant to eat or they contract a musical group to dance, because finishing school is an important achievement for the family. The level does not matter. What matters is that a period is being finished. And, as a witness, slumped onto a chair, I sometimes wonder if the family worries how much knowledge changed the students´ life, although I believe that it is assumed that if the child goes to school, he learns. Now it’s time to celebrate. However, if we think about cognitive, socioconstructive or formative learning theories, we know that after having been for three years or more at school, the student has definitely learnt more things than those he could have learnt if he had just stayed at home. For sure, traditions, beliefs, customs, behaviors and perceptions have been shared with him at school and at home, and have both developed a new human being, with a new vision of the life and a modified world.

If it is moment to celebrate, nobody cares about that 5% of gross domestic product invested in education (or few wonder about the non-complete, invested money for educative issues). Moreover, probably few of the relatives at the party worry about those results which can be shown by OECD to the world or, there is little concern about those researchers who have criticized Mexican education results, when they say that we, Mexicans, read less than three books in a year.

In any case, it has been predicted that Mexico will become, in little time, the eighth largest economy by 2050, and, if we, Mexicans, have been deprived from better education opportunities because the minds that control this country have decided so, anyway, we have learnt how to spend our life in a happier mood than the expected one. And; while better conditions come for us, we continue trusting on our leaders as a baby trusts on his parents, with  a soul freed from wickedness.  We feel angry when we do not get what we expect to have, but forget everything while we dance or laugh, probably without being aware that when we laugh, we lower our stress, decrease our pains, relax our muscles, ease anxiety and tension and strengthen our relationships.

Therefore, it could be said that those colorful bouquets, the expensive presents, the delicious meals or fruit drinks all seem to help Mexicans to forget the harsh moments of violence, theft and murder that are being lived by, in several places, and that attending at least fourteen parties in a year (some people may attend more than 40!), somehow helps them to forget grief or regret and have them united,  while they enjoy the life in short periods of unconsciousness while singing or hugging. This common situation of every summer shows that many times humans behave according to what they have learnt at school and at home, recognizing that education and culture go hand by hand and are influenced reciprocally, (Solana et al. 2011) and that finally, life goes on and that human beings just go changing of space and places, where to stretch out their arms and to free their dreams.

  • actually all the problems are forgotten when people who were in their college career to support that they are already friends and family, and if at some point they wanted not to follow. But after reaching your goal it’s really amazing to feel the blood running through your veins, like feeling the adrenaline when you get into an extreme game, and thinking about not knowing if you’re about to fall off your excitement. and it doesn’t matter that at the end of the ceremony you don’t have a big banquet. Mexicans are warriors who, regardless of the circumstances, move on.

  • Families celebrate the triumph of their children for having achieved more in their lives, than celebrate since they leave kindergarten would be seen as something insignificant, but what we do not see is that the person who graduates has better knowledge and performance , they say that the best inheritance that a father can leave to his children is study, so that this person can develop better and face life with better weapons that defend him on his way, also parents want their children to have better lives that they could not have, that parents want them not to lack what they could not have, achieving a better future with future generations; It is true that the economic situation of our country is hard, but some parents therefore celebrate the achievements of their children because they want them to make the country a better place by being governed by better prepared people and making this country grow, once you hear that Mexico it is a test to achieve what seems impossible that if in this country we can in the other countries it will be easier to achieve our objectives.

  • I think that in Mexico we celebrate everything, it’s part of our culture, and even more if it’s about the achievement of any member of the family. «Education is the most powerful weapon wich you can use to change the world» as Mandela said, the important thing of education is not only to acquire knowledge, but to liberate our minds and to create thinking, tolerant and happy societies. Let’s celebrate then our individual capacity to make the change!

    • The cultures or traditions that Mexicans have are very special for each of the families and that regardless of whether our role as students during our educational stage is good, bad or excellent, it is simply wonderful to know that the children conclude a stage more in your life and for them it is not bad to celebrate big or even minimally and it is true that we should consider that there are more important things in education like continuing to prepare or develop new skills and ways of learning.

  • I believe that Mexico is a country where any excuse is good for a party and more if it is a graduation at any academic level graduations bring unforgettable moments everywhere. Where students conclude their studies in kindergartens, elementary schools, secondary schools, high schools and universities are excited to see one more stage of their lives completed, some to continue their academic preparation and others to make way for their professional life, but I am sure that the most important thing is to enjoy the graduation party because you only live once and do not forget this never give up!

  • Mexican families have a very special way of celebrating the end of an important stage of life even when it is not celebrated with luxurious banquets, it is a special moment given that it is shared by all our loved ones.
The day of the graduations is a wonderful moment that even I could not explain with words how happy you feel, it is a day when you can see many smiles and tears of happiness and regardless of the level any achievement is celebrated by the families which represents one more step to achieve success.

  • Celebreting is part of de culture of Mexicans, Mexicans don´t mind having to work very hard and after spending all their money on a party if this makes them happy. Maybe a foreing would say «If I were you, I would save that money to spend it on better anything. But Mexicans feel better when they share time with all the family.

  • I think that the celebrations in Mexico are too colorful, this is what characterizes a Mexican to celebrate for each success that is presented in our lives and celebrate it with the people closest to us fills us with joy that is why Mexico celebrates the achievement one step and give the next one what we call destiny and, success is that to reach one step and keep giving the next one that is why celebrating each small step is important

  • Many of the times we Mexicans despite being partiers as well as the other countries regularly had to emphasize that we have the power to help others in the different situations that unfortunately have occurred in our country, but if any doubt the celebration that is believe to be able to conclude some academic level is the power that we have in certain stages since we climb different steps in our levels .. that despite the support of our parents depends a lot on ourselves in the way we think in the way in which our old generations were empirically creating the festivities where you simply did not decide and / or chose to choose your godfather, your clothes, eh even your music because both parents influenced both the environment and the lived economy .. now it is very different we have a decision power too strong so to speak and we can say that a power of our parents more d bil, I feel that they want to give everything to their children full hands, for example in my family they have educated me to be able to earn things by working to be able to realize how much it costs to earn money and see how easily it goes .. they are issues In the life they are developing, they are improving and highlighting worldwide because that is something for sure we Mexicans are people with an unparalleled charisma
